KATHERINE + MATT

WHEN AND HOW WE ME
We first met during our days at Melbourne Uni, but it was some year’s later right in the heart of St Kilda at The George Hotel that we bumped into each other and the real courting began.
OUR WEDDING LOCATION
We knew exactly what we wanted from the outset – we wanted to keep everything pretty simple but elegant and relaxed, effortless and fun. The main thing for us was to make sure our guests mingled, enjoyed great food and quality wine, and most of all had a ball of fun.
The Deck at Circa was the perfect location for us, it’s a contemporary space, with floor to ceiling windows and a gorgeous outdoor terrace showcasing the St Kilda skyline. We dressed it with stunning white blooms and touches of greenery. It was a fabulous spot to take in all the celebrations.
THE DRESS + VEIL
Daphne Gown by One Day Bridal – the one and only place to shop for your wedding dress!
This was probably the quickest/easiest part! I knew that I wanted something fun and unique but after searching for hours online and dreading the whole process, I finally stumbled across One Day Bridal. I tried on four dresses at ODB and knew straight away that the Daphne dress was the one. It’s the most stunning gown. Kyha and the girls at ODB are hugely talented. The whole experience was seamless and so much fun.
I had my sister and my two best friends as my bridesmaids. I didn’t want the girls to look matchy-matchy so I asked them to choose a dress style and designer they liked. My only request was that they wore black. By chance, two ended up with slightly different styles by Shona Joy and one wore a classic dress by Scanlan and Theodore. The different styles really complimented each other in the end and the girls looked beautiful.
GROOM + GROOMSMEN
Mat was looking stylish and handsome as always in a classic Godwin Charli tuxedo.
The groomsmen all had their own black tux’s so we bought them each a crisp white shirt from MJ Bale along with a little gift box that included a new black bow tie, fresh happy socks, and a little tipple of vodka to get them ready for the day ahead. They all looked very handsome!
Laura from Weddings of Desire styled our day to perfection. She completely got me from the get go and she’s a ball of fun to work with. She’s super talented and has such a clever and creative streak you know everything about your day is unique. I felt like she went above and beyond for us and took care of every little detail in the lead up, during and post wedding.
She organised the entire venue top to tie and worked with Moss Industries to produce most stunning floral designs, from the gorgeous bouquets to the statement centrepieces and the hanging marquee installation – the place looked magical! She really channelled the modern and simple but elegant and classic look with crisp and modern whites and lots of luscious greenery.
THE BEST ADVICE I WAS GIVEN
Just to relax, have fun and let your hair down – all noted and all achieved!
My gorgeous sister organised a surprise weekend away in Sorrento – they hired the most picture perfect Hampton-esq beach house and hosted 20 of my nearest and dearest for the weekend. There were hot pink flamingo’s, inflatable pool toys, and LOTS of champagne. She threw quite the party!
