BRIDE’S FULL NAME… Sophia Deegan
GROOM’S FULL NAME… Luis Espinosa
WEDDING DATE… 23rd January 2016
WHEN AND HOW WE MET
We met in Bondi, Sydney on a night out…..
OUR WEDDING LOCATION
Home… Ever since I was a little girl I wanted to get married on Mum and Dads farm where I grew up. Luis was very excited to get married in New Zealand so there was no question when deciding on the location- Whakatane, NZ.. We just had to convince my dad…
We were so lucky to have the Lucy Chase team style our day. Right from day one we knew the day would be special and different with Lucy Chase taking on this project. Being a farm wedding we didn’t want to overdo the farm scene and wanted it to feel like a beautiful setting while sitting in the middle of a paddock. Aleisha was able to put her creative style together and capture exactly what we were thinking. Those bentwood chairs and matai tables especially made it something special alongside the signage and every small detail they put into it. The entire layout gave it a really togetherness feel and it could not have been more perfect.
THE BEST ADVICE I WAS GIVEN.
To make sure we stop and take in the moments as the day goes very fast and if things go wrong it really doesn’t matter, no one else knows it was supposed to happen.
WHAT WAS YOUR NON NEGOTIABLE FOR THE DAY?
The nonnegotiable were the food, styling…. and of course the dress.
Luis Family is from Chile and his Aunties were attending who didn’t speak English so there was no discussion on incorporating some South American traditions. We did a modified version of “la Cueca” national folkloric dance for Chile for our first dance. Luis dressed in a traditional huaso (Cowboy) outfit with a poncho and spurs. I also attempted my vows in Spanish.
The hen’s day was in Sydney- family and friends kindly flew over to join in on the fun. We stayed in a beautiful home in Vaucluse and we went out for meal followed by cocktails and a night out. My lovely bridesmaid organised an amazing cake from Unbirthday.

DRESS & VEIL
Stella dress and veil.
I had been stalking One Day Bridal for some time but couldn’t decide if I should tempt myself as I lived in Sydney…I decided to make the trip to Melbourne as every bride should to try on Kyha’s beautiful gowns…. Then I found the Stella dress and it was everything I had imagined I would wear. The girls at One Day Bridal were amazing to work with!
HAIR + MAKE UP: Fiona Clare hair and Makeup was amazing to work with – email [email protected]
JEWELLERY: Damselfly – Alia stud drop earrings
SHOES: Senso- as soon as I saw these shoes I knew they were the ones I loved the colour and the silver block heel.
BRIDESMAID DRESSES: Four bridesmaids with dresses from Winona in Sydney.
FLOWERS: Rosies Wildflowers
Rosie was an absolute dream to work with. I sent her my ideas for my bouquets and the bridesmaids. She worked closely with Aleisha to pick the right flowers for the styling of the day. The colours were whites, creams and greens. I will never forget that moment of seeing the arch and the centrepiece. The centre piece was hanging above me where we sat at the reception and spun in the wind. It really is special walking into the wedding and seeing everything just as you pictured it.
CAKE: Sugar Town Cakes
We had a four tier semi naked cake. Flavours were salted caramel and lemon and coconut. I had sent a few emails to Kerry but didn’t stress too much on the detail just as long as it was a BIG cake so when I walked in it could not have been more perfect.
BAND OR DJ: Jade Pritchard- acoustic and DJ
