31st March 2017

We met at University. We arrived to move in at the same college on our first day.

We wanted a Hinterland wedding as I grew up in the country in Wagga Wagga, but we also love the ocean so we wanted to be near the coast as well. After we got engaged we were looking through venues when on holiday in Bali and stumbled across a few we both loved in Byron Bay.  We thought as a destination it would be great for our friends and family to come up for the week before and enjoy a holiday.  We had a few last minute changes due to weather on the wedding day with cyclone Debbie – meaning we had two ceremonies. The first was a small intimate ceremony with our immediate family, bridal party and their partners in the Byron Bay Hinterland, and the second was at The Byron Bay Surf Club in which my brother helped us out as celebrant along with MC for the day, this venue we were lucky enough to book in the night before the wedding.

THE DRESS : CHOSEN Customised Jonie Gown

I started by going to a few dress shops with my Mum and sister and tried on different styles which helped me decide what designs suited me best. I really just wanted to feel like myself in my dress and I hadn’t come across anything. Which is where One Day bridal came in as they tailored everything to be exactly how I wanted it giving me advice at every stage of the process. It was such an amazing experience every time we got to see the dress at the next stage and I couldn’t have been happier with the finished product.

The wedding party wore MJ Bale suits and shirts with Otaa bow ties and the girls wore Bojena King Dresses.

It was all a surprise for me!!  We stayed in a very nice house in the hinterland just out of Berry, on the South Coast of NSW.  We relaxed, did yoga, went to a few wineries and had a long lunch at Silo Estate.

Our wedding occurred during a cyclone, far from typical weather conditions – so my advice would be to roll with what ever the day throws at you.  Know that the main reason for the day is to celebrate marrying your lover, the person you want to spend the rest of your life with and that your family and friends are there to support and celebrate you in what is an amazing and very special moment.  Also take a break during the reception with your partner to relax, have a chat and just pause for a moment to enjoy each others company and reflect on the day.
